Cleaning And The Environment

Clean Care Scotland are concerned about our environment and have chosen to do something about it.

We have  spent time thinking through what it means in actual practice and have drawn up a list of standards we are abiding by in order to do what we can to save our planet.

• We will wherever possible choose to use cleaning products that do no harm to our environment.
• In choosing cleaning products we always balance ability to clean with the amount of packaging and environmental cost of transport
• All managers and mobile supervisors have their contract work sorted into local geographical areas to minimise the consumption of car fuel as will as choosing the right type of cars with low CO2 emissions etc.
• All cleaning equipment will be chosen for long life to reduce the impact on landfill
• We will actively encourage our customers to get involved in any recycling processes available locally.

However we are aware that there are other things that are more difficult to measure in these terms.  Not only do we have a working environmental policy but we have been recognised as being through enough to achieve ISO 14001

For example if a container is made out of environmentally friendly materials that can be recycled but it is made out of materials that have to be transported halfway around the world to get here which is better overall. How do we discover that information when our suppliers are not even asking that of the manufacturer? Yes we are asking the manufacturers these same questions before buying. But are we getting the right information?

We know we don’t have all the answers yet but are willing to look at other initiatives to see how we can help discover the right choices. In the mean time we will continue doing what we can and look forward to updates on this subject in the very near future.
